Every year I’ve slayed my New Year’s resolutions, except for one: Reach my goal weight.
I had a gazillion excuses and never made any progress on this goal. “I’m too busy,” “I’m an entrepreneur,” “When things slow down,” “I’ll start next quarter,” etc. The list of excuses was endless.
So, the years kept passing, my weight kept going up, and I hated the way that I looked. That’s a problem when you’re literally the face of your company. I’ve had several thousand-dollar photoshoots that we use as content for social media and in email marketing campaigns. Throughout the entire shoot I’d say, “watch the double chin!”
Ugh. My weight was impacting everything from my self-confidence, to no longer feeling sexy for my husband, hating to see myself in pictures, having trouble keeping up with my kids, trying to shrink myself because of my size all the time, barely fitting into airplane seats… I could go on and on.
Many of us have felt this way throughout our lives. Unfortunately, we have to get to a place where we’re tired of being tired, fed up with being fat, and empowered enough to actually do something about it.
For me, my journey to sustained weight loss started last year when I found Evolve. I was super stressed out about cooking healthy foods for my picky family (that’s another story for another blog post!) and finally told them to fend for themselves — mama was getting a chef. I was finally going to make my health a priority.
I started on Evolve’s Paleo menu and couldn’t believe how delicious the meals were. Who knew healthy could be so stinking delicious? Plus, I felt so fancy having someone else create a menu, prepare and cook each meal, then hand deliver it to my house!
Then I learned about the first Keto challenge, and jumped right in. Three challenges later I’ve lost 20 pounds and 2 sizes. I never complain about being tired anymore. I’ve hired a trainer that pushes me three days a week, and my body has made a dramatic transformation since we’ve started together.

Now that you’ve heard my story, I’d like to pause and offer you a few questions to ponder.
Are you taking really excellent care of yourself?
I’ve learned over the years that only through self-care can I perform at my optimal level, show up strong and centered for my family, team and clients. Self-care comes in many different forms, but today I’m talking about your body.
Are you feeding it nourishing foods, taking it to the gym, soaking in a steaming hot tub, sleeping enough, and getting regular body work done? These bodies we’re in need love and attention just as much the other humans in our lives that we take care of. It’s time we put our bodies as top priority.
If not now, when?
In order to get results, we must make drastic changes. What does this mean for you? What needs to change in order for you to take the best possible care of yourself? Take radical action NOW.
You have permission to take care of yourself. To say yes to nutritious, yummy, foods. Yes, to even tout a “personal chef” if you want to be fancy like me. If you’re not well taken care of, how in the world can you be expected to take of anyone else?
